Arizona Musicfest is In Concert in Sun City

Folk Music From Around The World

Phoenix Children's Chorus - Encore Choir
Last year we expanded our concert offerings to include Sun City. Well, for our 20th Anniversary, we’re doing it again with a very exciting group.

The Phoenix Children’s Chorus.

We’re featuring 2 of the Chorus’ 4 choirs. With a total of 150 voices on stage, you’ll hear The Cadet Choir (grades 4-7) and The Encore Choir (high school students). Three words sum up this choral concert: Youthful, Vibrant, Excellence!

The concert is themed Folk Music From Around The World.

The Chorus has toured throughout Europe and China, entertaining and enchanting audiences. “They’re not just adorable, they’re terrific vocalists,” said Lynn Bowers, Managing Director of Arizona Musicfest. “They won a ‘Gold’ in the Worldwide Choral Olympics!”

These exceptional choirs will perform classic choral pieces like Loch Lomond from Scotland, and Ma Bella Bimba from Italy. Of course there will be plenty of American folk music, Simple Gifts and Pick a Bale of Cotton, and rousing spirituals All My Trials and Witness.

Don’t miss Baba Yetu which is The Lord’s Prayer sung in Swahili; Chumbara, a French folksong; and Seven Wonders, a Welsh folk song. Popular Russian folk melodies are represented on the program with Russian Picnic. In addition to selections that everyone recognizes, there will also be unique pieces that are rarely performed, such as Kde Su’ Kra’vy Moje from Czechoslovakia and Cirandeiro from Brazil.

The concert is festival seating. Tickets will also be available at the door, cash or check only.
