Musicales are intimate parties, very limited in number, hosted by generous supporters of Arizona Musicfest.
Watch for Musicale events coming soon! Past events from 2008 are listed below.
Guitarra Dramatica
The sign says “Troon” but you’ll feel as if you’ve wandered into the Spanish countryside for this captivating evening of classical guitar.
The beguiling sounds of Javier Padial will echo throughout this stunning contemporary home. Spanish and Latin classics, as well as popular music will be yours to enjoy.
Adding to the enchantment of the evening, you can sample savory tapas, sangria and selected Spanish wines as the western sky blazes into a gorgeous Arizona sunset.
“If We Only Have Love”
You’ll think it’s Valentine’s Day when Martha Lindsey and Kevin Glenn entertain for an evening of romantic music (romance might possibly be optional). You’ll relish the mood as Martha and Kevin perform the best of Stephen Sondheim, Jacques Brel, Kurt Weill, and more… Accompaniment is by the gifted Shara-Dawn Chambers.
Capping the evening: a gourmet dinner with wine as you enjoy spectacular views of Black Mountain and the Valley. Magnifique!
Heavenly Gospel, Earthly Pleasures
Not tapping your foot would be a sin.
Featured will be Igor’s Jazz Band, long a fixture at many of the Valley’s best jazz clubs. Igor Glenn was a member of the New Christy Minstrels, and for this program, will perform with a group of spectacular Gospel vocalists with a pleasing mix of jazz, 60s exuberance and Old Time, Good Time Gospel. The joyous sounds of gospel will fill the acoustically splendid Chris Anglican Episcopal Church when a specially assembled company of singers and musicians performs for your enjoyment.
You’ll carry that “feel good” mood over to Dorothy’s Hall, where an array of luscious delicacies and wine will complement the evening’s musical riches.
Trio con Brio
Three talented artists have come together to create Paradisa!, a group that breathes new life into the standard piano trio repertoire with sassy, bold performances.
You’ll be enthralled by this winning combination of flute, cello and piano. As for their music: their repertoire seems endless, ranging from classical to pops to jazz influenced musical idioms.
Completing this musical feast will be a magnificent gourmet dinner, accompanied by fine wines. Absolutely superb!
The setting is a spectacular home with an exquisite garden court and expansive desert views.
Violin Prodigy Soaring Strings
A genuine Arizona Musicfest protegee, 16 year old violinist Mia Laity has starred wherever she has performed. Winner of back-to-back Young Musicians Competitions and a favorite at Arizona Musicfest youth concerts, Mia displays brilliant technique and emotional interpretation well beyond her teen years. “Soaring” has never been more apt!
This evening will take place in an inviting Boulder’s home. Following Mia’s performance, you will enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres, then a luscious springtime buffet.
You’ll witness a young star on the rise. What could be more exciting!
