The excitement continues as we move into our 17th year. Musicfest 2008 will be thrilling to me personally, to the audience, and to all our wonderful supporters. Simply put, Musicfest 2008 will have the best of the best for music lovers of every taste:
Quintessential Broadway entertainers, KT Sullivan and Mark Nadler, will perform Porter, Bernstein, Comden & Green, and more…
If you’re a jazz lover, you’ll think you’re in paradise when you see our line-up:
The John Pizzarelli Quartet with special guest, Bucky Pizzarelli; A jazz extravaganza with the ASU Jazz Repertory Band, the ASU Jazz Strings Orchestra, the Mike Kocour Trio, and guest artist, the Grammy Award winning saxophonist, Eric Schneider; The Bill Charlap Trio, cabaret-style.
Time for Three, classical, crossover – and charismatic!
The Grammy Award winning Ying String Quartet
The young and prodigiously talented Jimmy Jones will present an organ recital at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church on its extraordinary instrument; guest brass artists will join.
Valentine’s Day with Bob Moody: some of my most talented musician friends will join me for an informal cabaret evening, topped by a gourmet dinner.
And, in the place of honor, our four Festival Orchestra concerts. The Festival Orchestra is simply getting better and better with each performance. Next season, we’ll showcase its talented musicians with works such as the monumental Saint-Saens Organ Symphony, Stravinsky’s exciting Firebird Suite, and Brahm’s brilliantly orchestrated Haydn Variations.
Specially noteworthy will be the debut of the Arizona Musicfest Festival Chorus in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem. I’m sure you’ll recognize the Pie Jesu from this work: it was a “Top 40” hit and won a Grammy in 1986.
And, perhaps our biggest news: world-renowned pianist Andre Watts will join the Festival Orchestra as soloist in Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto.
I’m sure you will agree that this is a season not to be missed!
